consenso expands its international business and undertakes project in Riyadh

consenso goes Saudi Arabia!

SACO (Saudi Company for Hardware) is considered the largest provider of home improvement solutions in Saudi Arabia. Started out with one store in 1984, SACO, to date, operates 34 stores in 18 cities, including five superstores (known as SACO World), each occupying between 2,350 and 24,500 square meters.

SACO, located in beautiful Riyadh, chose consenso as an implementation partner to guide the way to future digitalisation.

The task was clear: support the creation of a business and IT transformation enabling SACO to offer true omnichannel experiences for customers and data visibility for the business as well as a scalable solution for IT.

SACO requested more than "just" the retail standard such as click & collect or click & ship. Business requested SACO DNA to be visible throughout the processes. Hence, high flexibility and comprehensible processes were the goal. Anything for the customer.

Through implementation of SAP CAR as a data hub for SALES (DTA), Prices (OAA), Availability and Sourcing (OAA) and GK POS as an innovative omnichannel POS solution, consenso and SACO managed to build exactly that. Implementing CAR enabled us to use the same database for all sales channels.

Key facts (amongst many more):

  • Implementation of area-based sourcing with customer-specific logic
  • Implementation of automated promotion uploads and integration from SAP CAR OPP to SAP Retail (mega promotions up to 1,500 items per promotion)
  • Integration of GK POS with an in-store Fiori app enabling the customers to pay for their shopping carts at the POS (cash and carry as well as sales order-based click & ship)
  • Development of the customer-specific SACO return function

consenso was also responsible for the integration of SAP CAR to the attached systems SAP Retail, SAP Commerce and Marketing Cloud, SAP CRM.

Despite COVID-19, the project team managed to overcome remote work with exceptional work ethics and teamwork.

The go-live on September 1st was, of course, also done remotely. Until December 2020 the solution was rolled out throughout the kingdom.
